How to Remove the Top of a Pineapple

Most people are not aware how to remove the leaves of a pineapple. People often slice off the top, which ends up removing more fruit that is necessary.

It's simple enough to remove the leaves when the pineapple is ripe to eat.
Just grab a hold of the leave at the base near the top of the fruit, then twist and pull. Tada! You have just removed the top of a pineapple.

Now if you are considering growing your own pineapple plant, this is how you want to start your plant. If you were to put off the leaves from the top, there would be too much fruit and the fruit would rot and your plant would not grow. We hope to begin growing our own pineapple bush soon.

And another fruit that most of us open wrong is a banana. You are not supposed to bend back the stem of the banana to open it, you are supposed to pinch the bottom end and then it will spilt open and you can then peel it back.

Who's hungry for a fruit salad now & wants to try these out?

I recently learned how to open a banana. I have learned a lot since I started working at preschool LOL. It is SO much easier opening a banana from the bottom.
I would have never thought to do that with a pineapple. I have always just cut the top off. Thanks for the tip!
